Too often we dismiss youth as being highly emotional without fully understanding the challenges that they are facing in today’s world. As adults, we often forget what being a youth is like. As people of faith we can use the word of God to find guidance on how to help youth cope with what they are going through. It’s not about understanding everything they are facing—it’s about listening to them.

My name is Anthony Lane and I am the new City Youth and Missions Director here at City Church. I am from New Orleans, Louisiana and graduated from LSU- so naturally I bleed purple and gold and love my home state, however, there are a lot of great things that I love about Houston as well- like it’s wide range of awesome restaurants : Pappas Seafood, BB’s, Acme Oyster House, Lucille’s, Local Foods…just to name a few (all my favorites)

This past Saturday, October 2nd, City Youth participated in a service project for one of our mission partners, The FORGE for Families. The FORGE for Families’ focus is on the long-term development of students in Houston’s Third Ward by providing an encouraging after school environment. The City Youth’s specific service project was focused on the campus playground.
