Sunday Study: Are Science & Faith in Conflict?

Sunday Study: Are Science & Faith in Conflict?

RSVP to reserve a complimentary box lunch. Childcare provided with RSVP. We serve pre-packaged sandwich box lunches. If you are not able to eat that, please feel free to bring other food with you. RSVP by Thursday, September 15 for childcare. We are not able to accommodate childcare RSVPs after that date, but you are welcome to keep your children with you at the lunch.

Join us for a church-wide lunch following the service on Sunday, September 18. This “Sunday Study” will look at the origin story of scripture, Genesis 1–3, and ask a common question in today’s world: “Are Science & Faith in Conflict?”

Data suggests that, among those leaving communities of faith, one of the primary reasons cited is the perception that modern people must choose between science and God. How can faith respect the growing body of knowledge called science while also holding firm to a belief in a meaningful universe created and controlled by the God of the Bible? How can we humbly accept the limits of human knowledge without arrogantly dismissing the work of those who have dedicated their lives to expanding our understanding of the universe?

We’ll discuss these questions, and more, on September 18! All are welcome and no prerequisite knowledge or reading is necessary. However, if you would like to prepare ahead of time, we strongly recommend reading Genesis 1–3. For those who register, we will also distribute several additional articles from leading scholars and apologists on the subject. These will help inform our discussion together.

Please RSVP no later than Thursday, September 15 so that we know how many lunches to order. We look forward to seeing you there! If you have any questions, please email our Community and Care Pastor, Clint Wilson.

The event is finished.
